Sustainability in the Nature Store with Liberty Graphics
Learn more behind the scenes
Designing and printing since 1977, Liberty Graphics was established when they, as a locally based community of artists and artisans, were looking for a means of support that would not disturb the natural beauty of their rural setting in Liberty, Maine. With design emphasis on the wonders of the natural world and production methods that meet rigid environmental standards, their concern for the environment has always been reflected in everything they do.
They skillfully hand-separate and carefully screen-print the finest art in an ecologically friendly workplace. Their shirts are printed exclusively with water-based ink for your comfort and the environment. The ink used is durable, has a soft hand, contains no PVCs, and requires no petroleum-based solvents for cleanup. Once printed, water-based ink integrates into the weave of the fabric allowing the shirt to breathe.

Charley Harper (1922 – 2007) was born and raised on a family farm in rural West Virginia, where his love of nature began at an early age. He was gifted with both keen powers of observation and the ability to paint a truly unique take on his subject matter. Best known for conveying maximum meaning with minimalist technique, he described his work by saying “…in a world of chaos, the picture is one small rectangle in which the artist can create an ordered universe.”
Holly Berry is a native of Kennebunk, Maine. She and her husband now live in the mid-coast of Maine. She uses original images to create block prints and illustrations. The printmaking process appeals to her love of making things with her hands and respect for craftsmanship. Birds, animals, fish, insects, plants, and the planets all offer points of departure for her to interpret and integrate into her compositions. Many of the children’s books she has illustrated have been recognized with awards and starred reviews.
