In June, James Casto is joined by hit songwriters Roxie Dean and Jim Parker.  Roxie Dean wrote the Grammy nominated “When I Think About Angels” for Jamie O’Neal, the hit “Why They Call It Falling” for LeAnn Womack, as well as cuts by Reba McEntire, Sara Evans, Tracy Lawrence, and more.

Jim Parker wrote multiple cuts for country legend John Anderson, including “Chicken Truck” and “More Than A Feeling.”  He’s also had cuts by Aaron Tippin and others.  Jim is host of the popular “Jim Parker Presents…” Songwriters Concert Series, which brings in some of the biggest names in the songwriting world to the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL.

This will be a great night as a portion of the proceeds will benefit Wilkins Parkinson’s Foundation.  So, get a table for 2, 4, 6, or 8, invite family and friends, bring food and beverages, and enjoy an incredible night of music under the Ben Brady Pavilion on the beautiful grounds of the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell.

Take a night off as you enjoy the beautiful scenery the Chattahoochee River has to offer. Date night is designed exclusively for adults looking to get away for the evening, relax and connect to the river and its surroundings. Participants are invited to arrive early and stay a bit later to enjoy the grounds and trails of the Nature Center. Bring a picnic dinner with a bottle of wine to enjoy before or after your trip.  This is the perfect setting for a first date, celebrating a special anniversary or just to catch up with a close friend. Canoe trip will end approximately at 8:30 and participants are invited to relax on the grounds till 9:30 PM.

Our June field trip will be a backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail. We will depart early Saturday morning from Hog Pen Gap and ultimately arrive at Unicoi Gap. There will be a stopover at Chattahoochee Gap. This is a 13-mile hike rated as moderate. One of the most popular programs given by the Horticulture department, this is a fun and interactive way to get to know Mother Nature!  Join CNC horticulturist Lisa Cole for an introductory look into the amazing world of healing plants.  This class focuses on herbs and oils used since antiquity to treat a variety of ailments, with an emphasis on women’s needs.  Class includes a hands-on presentation, crafting of floral water and teas for participants to take home, and a tour of healing plants which grow at CNC.

At the July concert, James is joined by New York songwriter John Allison and Chicago’s Jill Paquette.  Former Atlanta resident John Allison has worked with everyone from the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra to Don Potter (producer of The Judds).   Atlanta music icon Cheryl Rogers is quoted as saying, "John Allison is a dynamic performer who plays his instrument as if it was an extension of his body. His energy is electric and people are immediately drawn to him. Jill Paquette is a Canadian born singer songwriter now living in Chicago. Jill currently resides in Illinois and where she performs and writes for various artists including Jaci Velasquez and Point Of Grace. Most recently Jill has been writing for film.

Take a night off as you enjoy the beautiful scenery the Chattahoochee River has to offer. Date night is designed exclusively for adults looking to get away for the evening, relax and connect to the river and its surroundings. Participants are invited to arrive early and stay a bit later to enjoy the grounds and trails of the Nature Center. Bring a picnic dinner with a bottle of wine to enjoy before or after your trip.  This is the perfect setting for a first date, celebrating a special anniversary or just to catch up with a close friend. Canoe trip will end approximately at 8:30 and participants are invited to relax on the grounds till 9:30 PM.

Learn the basics of canoeing and put your skills to the test. This is a great introduction course into the world of canoeing. Learn parts of the boat discover different strokes and practice canoeing on a CNC pond. This is a fun opportunity for kids and adults alike to experience canoeing or brush up on skills. Attend Canoeing 101 and become a confident paddler!  All equipment is provided.

In August, James is joined by Jesse Terry, Beth Wood and saxophonist Matt Blanchard.  Jesse Terry has won the Grand Prize in several international songwriting competitions, including The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the CMT/NSAI Songwriting Competition and The We Are Listening Singer/Songwriter awards. His debut record was licensed to nine major television shows including MTV's "The Hills" and "The City”. www.jesseterrymusic.com . 

Simply one of the best singer songwriters on the planet, Beth Wood returns to Georgia supporting her latest project “The Weather Inside” produced by Billy Crockett at Blue Rock Studios in Texas.  Beth is classically trained in voice and piano at Brevard College in North Carolina and now lives in Oregon.  Most recently she has been featured on Season 1 of the television show Troubadour Texas.  www.bethwoodmusic.com .  Sitting in with the writers is New York saxophonist Matt Blanchard.  Matt has performed on the David Lettermen Show, at Lincoln Center, and around the globe.
