Flying Colors.
Witness the colorful spectacle of giant butterfly and caterpillar kites and banners from Bellwether Banners.

Butterfly Releases

Witness the thrill of a live butterfly release including swallowtail butterflies! Butterfly releases occur at 10 AM and 12:30 PM on Saturday and at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM on Sunday.

Butterfly Crafts and Face Painting

Experience the fun of our craft and face painting tent all day long! Butterfly crafts supplied by Cadette Troop 3298 from Roswell. 

Butterfly Costume Parade

New this year!  Come with your very best butterfly wings on or antenna and join us for our butterfly parade at the end of festival each day.  We will also be making antenna for children to wear!

Butterfly and Insect Scavenger Hunt

New this year!  Travel into the woods to find clues about butterflies and insects that you will find at CNC and enter to win a prize if you find all the clues!

Entertainment

Saturday will have you and your little ones thrilling to the life cycle of a butterfly during a puppet show presented by Piccadilly Puppets!  Sunday will have Havana Son thrilling us with the sounds of Latin America! 

Butterflies, Pollinators & Dragonfly Photo Show

Check out some of the entries of the Roswell Photographic Society’s juried Photography contest. Winners will be announced at the festival around 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18th.  The show will be on exhibit at CNC until July 30th.  It will then move to National Park Headquarters at Island Ford for the month of August. 

Butterfly Sidewalk Art

Butterflies provide the perfect inspiration for our on-going art project.  Create a “butterfly path” through the butterfly garden!

Photography Hints

Check in with local photographers on the grounds to see how you can improve your photography skills while trying to capture an illusive insect with the Georgia Nature Photography Club!

Adult Programs Presentations

Join the folks from the People’s Online Plant Atlas to learn more about butterflies, insects, and about the project that aims to create a comprehensive atlas of the estimated 5000 Georgia plant species.  Join them on Saturday at 11:30 AM and on Sunday at 12:15 PM. Brought back by popular demand is our Ask the Organic Gardener program.  Bring your questions and find out how you can keep your garden growing green!  Head over to the theater on Saturday at 9:15 AM and on Sunday at 2:30 PM.

Exhibits

NEW Participants: Join CNC, UGA Museum of Natural History, The Bee Project, National Park Service, Georgia Organics, and Metro Atlanta Beekeepers to learn more about the amazing insects that call Georgia home!   

Plant Sale

Join Monarchs Across Georgia as you learn about the work they do and find the perfect host plants and nectar plants to take home to your garden to attract butterflies to your backyard! 

Food for the Family

Make the festival an all day event!  We will be selling a variety of food to keep you going!  We will be selling popsicles, drinks, and snacks around the property. For lunch – try some food from Jalapeño Corndogs – they will have hotdogs and corn dogs (apple valley organic beef, turkey, and veggie) as well as fresh squeezed lemonade for sale.  Jalapeno Corndogs uses compostable products and recycles the oil they use to make all those tasty corndogs! Cash only for food concessions (we do not have an ATM on-site.)

“Parking is available in the CNC parking lot until full.  Space is limited so please carpool or ride your bike!  Additional parking will be available at the St. Francis School on Willeo Road jus south of Hwy 120 or at the Mills on Roswell Road just east of the square at Hwy 120.  A free shuttle bus service will be provided for your convenience.”
