Canoe Programs

canoe1River Canoe Trips

Each trip is led by a CNC naturalist and offers a unique introduction to the ecology of the Chattahoochee River. Your naturalist will enlighten you as to the cultural and natural history of the river, citing important ecological relationships and environmental issues that affect this endangered river while allowing you to enjoy the peaceful qualities of the River.

Canoe Guides are all CPR/First Aid Certified and are experienced paddlers and naturalists. Don’t worry if you are new to canoeing – CNC provides all equipment (canoe, paddles, and personal flotation device (PFDs) for participants. These trips are suitable for both beginning and advanced paddlers (ages 6 and up.)

Family Canoe Days

If you are just trying out canoeing for the first time, then join us for a Family Canoe Day on one of our ponds.  This 1 ½ hour class is designed to teach you boat basics and help you perfect your paddling.  Our Canoe Guides will go over safety protocols and then let you explore one of our ponds.  A great way to get ready for a summer out on the Chattahoochee.  Don’t worry if you are new to canoeing – CNC provides all equipment (canoe, paddles, and personal flotation device (PFDs) for participants. These trips are suitable for both beginning and advanced paddlers (ages 6 and up.)

Private Canoe Excursions

Ages 6 – Adult, Advance Registration Required at least 2 weeks in advance
A private canoe excursion gives your group the exclusive attention of our naturalists. It’s a great opportunity for groups who want to spend time together while exploring the Chattahoochee River. Trips can be arranged to fit your schedule and can accommodate large and small groups.

Conservation Series Canoe Trip

canoe cliffs2Each Saturday in July our canoe guides will be accompanied by local folks working to conserve the river. Hear their stories and learn how you can make a difference for our river while we travel a 2 ½ hour 3-mile loop through the backwaters of Bull Sluice Lake, discovering the plants and animals that call this area home. The CNC provides all equipment for participants. Ages 6+; $30 general public/$25 CNC members (per person).

River Canoe Trip

canoersThe Chattahoochee River is calling – Take an urban adventure and experience wildlife through a 2 ½ hour paddle down the ‘Hooch. Our experienced and knowledgeable river guides take you downriver to see the sights and sounds of this river in the summer. Discover the plants and animals that call this area home and explore the river’s backwaters as you re-imagine the river through a canoeing experience. The CNC provides all equipment for participants. Ages 6+; $30 general public/$25 members (per person).

Music Night on the River with The How & The Why

Ready for a little pickin’ and paddlin’?  Our canoe guides will lead you on a 2 ½ hour sunset trip while we are serenaded by string duo The How & The Why.  Come out as early as 5pm to enjoy the grounds for a BYO picnic and some music.  The trip will head out at 6pm to explore the Chattahoochee River while Lindsay Rakers and Michael Hudgins of The How & The Why provide some musical enjoyment at a couple of stops along the way.  CNC provides all equipment.  Ages 21 and up; $30 General Public/$25 Members (price per person.)  Register by August 11th (limited spaces)

Family Canoe Day

canoe 101Get your feet wet with our canoe guides on Beaver Pond. This 1 ½ hour introduction to canoeing is great for first time paddlers, families with young kids or adults coming back to the sport. We’ll spend extra time going over paddling techniques and equipment, but will also provide races, games and water squirters for those hot summer mornings. The CNC provides all equipment for participants. Ages 5+; $15 general public/$10 CNC members (per person); Register by August 10.
