Each trip is led by a CNC naturalist and offers a unique introduction to the ecology of the Chattahoochee River. Your naturalist will enlighten you as to the cultural and natural history of the river, citing important ecological relationships and environmental issues that affect this endangered river while allowing you to enjoy the peaceful qualities of the River.

canoe1Canoe Guides are all CPR/First Aid Certified and are experienced paddlers and naturalists. Don’t worry if you are new to canoeing – CNC provides all equipment (canoe, paddles, and personal flotation device (PFDs) for participants.
These trips are suitable for both beginning and advanced paddlers (ages 6 and up.)

Private Canoe Excursions
Ages 6 – Adult, Advance Registration Required at least 2 weeks in advance
A private canoe excursion gives your group the exclusive attention of our naturalists. It’s a great opportunity for groups who want to spend time together while exploring the Chattahoochee River. Trips can be arranged to fit your schedule and can accommodate large and small groups.

Paddle and Picnic at Riverside Park

Saturday, July 19th, 9am – 1pm, Ages 6 – Adult;

Bring your kids and paddle upstream with us to Roswell’s Riverside. Along the way we explore a marsh and old beaver dam, and then goof off on the playground and with some naturalist-led games. Bring a sack lunch and drinks (no alcohol and no glass containers) for a picnic along the river, and feel free to borrow our ice chest. To beat the heat, we’ll pass out water squirters for the paddle home! $40 General Public/$30 CNC Members

canoe2Morgan Falls Dam Tour and Paddle

Saturday, August 2; 8:30am – 1pm, Ages 14+ (previous canoeing experience required);

The 110-year-old hydroelectric dam originally provided power for the street cars in downtown Atlanta. Representatives from Georgia Power will give us an inside and out tour of the newly relicensed dam. This 6-mile round trip paddle is for participants with previous canoeing experience. $40 General Public/$30 CNC Members

Big Creek Wastewater Treatment Tour and Paddle

Saturday, August 23rd, 8:30am – 12:30pm, Ages 6 – Adult

Over 70% of metro Atlanta’s 5+ million residents rely on the Chattahoochee River for their water needs every day. That is a lot of responsibility! Join us on this family adventure to learn how Fulton County processes their wastewater and paddle around the marshes of Willeo Creek. $40 General Public/$30 CNC Members

Canoeing 101 at CNCcanoe3

It’s the season to get on the water and what better way to get prepared then signing up for a Canoeing 101 program! If you are ready to paddle but not sure where to start then this is the perfect experience for you. Join us to discover the basics of canoeing including boat basics (parts of the boat, the correct way to enter and exit, paddling strokes, etc.) and basic safety procedures. Canoe guides will help you learn basic paddling techniques for your time on the water. After instruction with our Canoe Guides, you will have time to enjoy paddling on one of CNC’s ponds in order to practice your new skills.

  • $15 General Public/$10 Members (price per person); To receive the member rate you must join at the family level or higher.) Book a third seat in a canoe for ½ off!
  • Each Canoe Day can accommodate between 18 – 29 participants
